UPGRADING FROM SAMM AND WINSAMM
To receive the WinSAMM to SECURITHOR data converter, contact MCDI with both your WinSAMM and SECURITHOR version to insure you get the appropriate conversion tool.

For most of us, switching from one software to the other is not a trivial task even when we are excited about new features. MCDI tried to make this an easy experience when you want to migrate from SAMM or WinSAMM to SECURITHOR.

At the start, we kept a lot of what was appreciated by SAMM and WinSAMM users and redesigned SECURITHOR alarm processing so an operator won't feel disoriented. Administrative windows and forms are also made to give SAMM and WinSAMM users a sense of familarity.

What is different is the number of features you will find in SECURITHOR to adjust, resize and personalize the graphical user interface for each operator. We also added several gadgets such as Operator Alertness Verification and Windows lockdown. Network users will see new features such as transfering alarm to another operator, routing by operators skill set, STM mobile status. More features and option packages will be added to SECURITHOR over the course of 2011 and 2012.

It's possible to get special discounted prices for SECURITHOR if you already own SAMM or WinSAMM licenses. Ask your dealer or contact MCDI Security Products about special upgrade prices directly from our quotation form.

SECURITHOR demo can be downloaded right now and operators can start familiarizing themselves with SECURITHOR interface. SECURITHOR demo is fully unlocked and operational for 30 days. The trial is common to ST1 - single station version - and STnet -the network version. Both versions share the same interface while STnet connects to a server when you are ready to install it.

Upgrading from WinSAMM to SECURITHOR
First download SECURITHOR by registering on our download page and start familiarizing yourself with SECURITHOR right now. WinSAMM operators will find SECURITHOR fairly easy as we kept a similar alarm processing sequence.

Contact MCDI support staff with your WinSAMM serial number (in the about box) and identification of your Company. Once you download and installed SECURITHOR demo, you have 30 days to contact MCDI to purchase a SECURITHOR license and continue using SECURITHOR. MCDI will return the latest migration tool and help document import Accounts, Alarm codes and Account attachements in SECURITHOR.

You can try the migration tool* on your own or schedule and appointment with MCDI support once you purchased a SECURITHOR licence or a support contract. MCDI suggests you verify your database by comparing between WinSAMM and SECURITHOR before going further. Some communication tests with receiver should be done prior to fully using SECURITHOR. If you are not sure about how to proceed, you can contact MCDI support and receive help under a support contract.

When you are ready to use SECURITHOR:
a- If you didn't make any changes in Accounts, connect your receivers into SECURITHOR and start monitoring using SECURITHOR.

b-If you made changes in Accounts or Alarm codes, you should uninstall SECURITHOR, re-install and redo the migration to insure you have an updated database.

MCDI will continue unlocking your WinSAMM for three months after you purchase a SECURITHOR unlock. This will give your three months to complete and verify your database in SECURITHOR and familiarize your operators with SECURITHOR.

If you intend to use SECURITHOR on the same computer used for WinSAMM, you should first check the minimum hardware requirements.

Upgrading from SAMM to SECURITHOR
You can download SECURITHOR by registering on our download page and start familiarizing yourself with SECURITHOR right now. SAMM operators will find SECURITHOR fairly easy as we kept a similar alarm processing sequence.

Upgrading from SAMM 10.3 or from older versions of WinSAMM is done by updating first to WinSAMM 1.2.17a. Once your files are converted to WinSAMM format, they can be imported in SECURITHOR. This is done by using the WinSAMM installation tools and selection upgrade from SAMM to WinSAMM. You can continue to use your SAMM while you complete the file migration but any changes in SAMM will not be ported to WinSAMM or SECURITHOR after your complete your migration.

Once you completed your migration to SECURITHOR and your SECURITHOR is unlocked, MCDI will continue unlocking your SAMM for at least 3 months.

During the migration process, accounts, alarm codes and events will be transformed to suit WinSAMM format. For WinSAMM to SECURITHOR, Accounts and alarm codes only will be transformed and imported in SECURITHOR. Events will be viewed in WinSAMM viewer. MCDI suggest you complete the import to WS and ST in one session without using WinSAMM.

Due to the differences in databases, If you have an older SAMM 8 or early version 10.1, you should contact MCDI SP support group to arrange database conversion prior to trying this process.

If you intend to use SECURITHOR on the same computer used for SAMM, you should first check the minimum hardware requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
See minimum requirements in the description page

*Notes on migration tool
Please note the data migration tool is offered as freeware. Although being tested in depth by MCDI, the migration tool is delivered 'as it is' without warranty of success. Support is limited to use. Operation and developement support for migration tools or database adjustments are NOT part of support contract or warranty support.

After migration, it is expected some work will be needed by you to modify or adjust information due to the differences inherent to SAMM, WinSAMM and SECURITHOR. For example, SAMM and WinSAMM only have one field for name and SECURITHOR contains a First name field and a Family name field. You will need to make adjustements to the name fields.

Some accounts may not transfer correctly from SAMM or WinSAMM to SECURITHOR and may need to be re-entered manually in SECURITHOR.

As some fields in SAMM or WinSAMM may be used in a manner different than MCDI intended use, you may need to re-enter some data.

Notes on support for migration

TECHNOLOGY
SQL for SECURITHOR
In designing SECURITHOR, we made sure to use SQL engine and database. SQL respects the 4 S we we are looking for: Strength, Stability, Security and Speed.

SECURITHOR is using PostgreSQL. This SQL engine has been around for 15 years and it is supported by a large community of developers. But the best is that it is free to use so you do not have to add a pricey Microsoft SQL of MySQL license to the cost of your Monitoring software.

Coding of the software application is accomplished with Visual Studio from Microsoft using the C sharp (C#) language. We used these tools to insure the best compatibility possible with Microsoft operating systems and to have a highly sophisticated graphic user interface. C# and Visual Studio also give us the possibility to add more tools and extend options of SECURITHOR in the future

SAMM and WinSAMM End Of Life
With the advent of SECURITHOR, MCDI is announcing WinSAMM End of Life as of April 1st 2009 for versions WSU2 and WSUU1 (single station and June 2010 for the Network Edition. SAMM End Of Life was already announced in 2004 (originally created in 1993) after release of WinSAMM in 2003.

With the advent of Windows VISTA, Windows 7 and the new demands of Central stations for features such as WEB access, MCDI needed to change development platform and redesigned/wrote SECURITHOR anew. Several of key ideas of SAMM and WinSAMM were integrated in SECURITHOR but new development was needed to continue evolution of our Monitoring Software.

MCDI will continue to supply SAMM and WinSAMM license owners with unlock for as long as needed. However MCDI will only support SAMM and WinSAMM at operational level under service contracts. You can enquire with MCDI about purchasing a support contract.

Centrals who migrate from SAMM or WinSAMM to SECURITHOR under a discounted price will receive a new unlock for SECURITHOR and will benefit from a grace period of at least 3 months for their existing SAMM or WinSAMM. After 3 months, MCDI will not give any new unlock code for SECURITHOR when sold or given as a replacement for SAMM and WinSAMM. Centrals who purchase a full license copy of SECURITHOR without migration discount will be entitled to unlock for both products.

MCDI intends to continue development of SECURITHOR well beyond 2013 with constant evolution and updating. New features are already planned in our development schedule for 2011 and 2012.
